Adding mulch back to the environment!
Chipping of materials is a fast and effective way to get rid of the waste that comes from wildfire mitigation. This is a eco friendly way to add the debris back to the ground in the form of mulch that helps to hold water and moisture, as well as helping to stop soil erosion.
Chipping DOES NOT add a fuel source to the area, unless the wood chips are kept in a significantly large pile (more than a foot tall and more than several feet wide). We always try and disperse the wood chips in a wide, vast area that adds about 2-3 inches of possible ground cover. We do not chip near homes or other structures, as to avoid buildup of any potential ground fuels. Most mulch biodegrades within a couple of years.
